Announcing SwampCon: Voyage!

We are happy to announce that SwampCon 2018 will officially be named SwampCon Voyage! Batten the hatches and bring out your treasure maps because landlubbers and buccaneers alike are invited to join our crew in sailing the seven seas on January 13-14th, 2018!

Returning events include the Fanmade Vocaloid Concert, the Drag Show, AMV and Costume Contests, and Maid Cafe. Brand new events include the Poi Concert. To RSVP, you can check out our Facebook Event and stay tuned for ticket pre-registration.

Free Posters for Dreamworks’ “Trollhunters”

 

Free Posters at Swampcon!

If you go to Swampcon: Frontier this weekend, you can pick up an 11 x 17 in. poster for the Netflix Original Series and Dreamworks productions, “Trollhunters,” from the mind of Guillermo Del Toro, and “Voltron Legendary Defender.”

Dreamworks “Trollhunters” episodes are now streaming on Netflix.

Voltron Legendary Defender Season 1 episodes are now streaming on Netflix, and season 2 episodes will be available starting January 20.

Weapons & Props Guidelines for Swampcon: Frontier

Guidelines for Weapons vs. Props from UF Police Department

UFPD would prefer that no toy weapons are brought in so as not to cause problems.  If they are, they must meet the toy gun requirement described in the Department of Housing Handbook (http://www.housing.ufl.edu/media/pages/CommunityStandards.pdf).

The use of toy guns or weapons, which resemble real weapons is not permitted.

Toy guns which are permitted (i.e. nerf-type guns, water guns) must be clearly marked with bright colors and seen out in the open at all times. All weapons (as props) must be clearly marked/tagged with bright color tape by Gator Anime volunteers.

Guests are only permitted to wear masks inside an event room. They are not permitted to wear masks around campus or in public areas of the JWRU.

Special Guest – Pikabellechu

PikaBelleChu has been cosplaying for over 16 years and has created over 80 costumes to date ranging from original Pokemon inspired gowns to Disney, SciFi and other anime characters. She is most famous for her continuing passion for Pokemon though the years and has appeared at many Pokemon events and tours along with her Pikachu inspired VW Beetle, she has also appeared on several television shows, appeared in several magazines and newspapers around the world, but is most known for gaining a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records in 2008 for having the World’s Largest Pikachu collection with over 20,000 items of the famous electric mouse. When not attending conventions and other events she also does many children’s events and has done a lot of charity work for Make-A Wish foundation through her cosplay as well as teach art classes on how to draw cartoons and make crafts at a craft store and painting murals in her town in homes and businesses.

Guest Author – Richard Lee Byers

Richard Lee Byers is the author of forty fantasy and horror novels including The Reaver, Blind God’s Bluff, and the best-selling Dissolution and the creator of the post-apocalyptic superhero series The Impostor. His short fiction can be found in numerous magazines and anthologies, and he has collected some of the best of it in the eBooks The Q Word, The Plague Knight, and Zombies in Paradise.

Guest Photographer – Mark Pariani – Productions

Mark Pariani – Productions is a Florida born photographer and architectural designer. He is a graduate of the Savannah College of Art and Design where he studied both architecture and photography. He has been featured in multiple professional art galleries and has several published photo works and awards. Mark has been photographing in the cosplay and convention community for about 5 years and is very excited to be returning to SwampCon this year.
